Life doesn't always show up the way we want or expect. I had certain goals and expectations this year, but they aren't quite there yet.
I went to Warsaw for work. Wasn't terribly excited since I was going to be off the bike for 9 days. Wasn't sure what the meetings would be, but happy I had at least one full day with the team I work closely with. Meetings were good, full of information. Lots of interaction between all of us and plenty of dialogue. We have action items and another meeting tentative in Oct.
I leave for home, get to the airport and my fight is delayed by 3 hours. Call the travel agency and find out first flight from ORD to SDF is Sunday. I rebook through Cincy and reserve a rental. A new friend comes to my rescue though and whisks me from CVG and I don't have to drive with tired eyes and brains.
I had certain ideas for this week, but didn't quite work out. I rode on Monday and my legs were finally happy again. Tuesday saw many popup storms and rain so I went to a get-together at another new friend's house. Many women were there, some are cyclists and some are not. Was a very nice evening. Wednesday I rode to the local MTB short track race with the intention of racing. Upon arrival on of the worst asthma attacks hits me out of the blue. I'm in line to register for the race, my bronchi start to swell and my lungs begin to fill with liquid. The next 45 minutes is damage control. I didn't race. But I got to cheer on the other ladies and that was fun!
I'm starting a long weekend. Took Friday and Monday off. Signed up to race tomorrow and Saturday in Cincy. I must be nutz! hardly any time on the bike, training plan has gone out the window and I am going to have my butt handed to me. No matter, it will be fun and I'll see lots of ladies I've not seen in months.
If Mother Nature cooperates I'll be mtn biking on Sunday and Monday after a slight detour to do a hilly TT first on Sunday.
Trying not to get to invested in tomorrow. Life happens and things change.
Also, trying to throw caution to the wind. Live now, soak it in. Roll with it (sounds easy) Still absolutely nothing happening on the romantic front. Makes me wonder. eh, is what it is.
Peace
Well I've made some major life changes and thought I'd write about some of them. Hope it's helpful to some. Change is life, constant, and inevitable. Go with it or be left behind and miserable. Give only good stuff and you'll reap great things!

I volunteered for the Inaugural Make a Wish foundation walk in Louisville on Saturday morning. One of my best friends was instrumental in getting this organized and it was a great success!
I got home, put laundry in the dryer and took my mtn bike to the LBS to have my handlebars cut down while I'm traveling. I get home and order a cab for 1:30 pm with 2 hours to spare I finish laundry, pack my bags, water plants, mow back yard, clean out fridge, carry out garbage, and pick up the house just a little.
Flight was good, both legs until my luggage didn't make the trip. I thought, no big deal I can go shopping. NO! Sunday was a national holiday and no retail was open anywhere, only restaurants. I join a few of my colleagues at the lobby bar for drinks around 6, grab dinner and head to bed. I could not stay asleep. Kept waking every hour or so. Finally, I fall asleep and overslept! I woke up at 8:45, supposed to be in the office by 9. It was 9:07 when I walked onto the floor. But all was fine as the team was just getting setup.
After lunch the hotel emails and says my luggage had arrived and it was being delivered to my room. So relieved since I had bought presents for a team member's new baby. It was a full day of meetings. I had calls scheduled for 7 and 7:30 which I took from a restaurant close by while I ate. Got back to the hotel and took 20 minutes for a jecuzzi break.
Now I hope I can sleep so I can get out and run first thing, clean up, eat breakfast and be in office by 8 so I can catch up on email and some work before all day meetings start again at 9.
The weather is beautiful this week. Wish I had a bike to ride...

time is flying and so will I soon
Brown County State Park DINO was the best! It was very difficult. At least that uphill start was a bear for me. I rode it once for a good warmup. I was relieved to get onto the single track and ride. I got stuck behind a slower rider for a bit. I need to learn to pass. She finally got over and I got into a decent rhythm. My HR was maxed, wish I'd remember to start the monitor. I keep wearing the dang thing. Am a goof. Anway, the last half to 3/4 mile of the race the Cat 3 men started passing. This was just agony as I was stopping and startin with no good flow whatsoever. No complaints, I'm happy with my first XC mountain bike race. I wasn't DFL, but wish I'd had a faster time. Will definitely be working on it.
I planned on racing the $5 spot criterium on Tuesday. The ride over in poor air quality had me coughing and wheezing when I arrived. I watched and took pics then rode home. Flatted on 2nd Street Bridge and changed my tire and went home.
Wednesday was Short Track Racing. I loved this course so much better than last weeks. We got to climb up the single track in Wilderness before dive bombing downhill in the grass. Problem was the juniors started in front of us and we got all bunched up on the trail. I MUST learn TO PASS! There are some new women out there as well. I just kept saying, if you are pushing your bike move off of the trail so we can pass. I've not seen the final results, but I was back in the field. Most everyone did 3 laps. A couple of us did 4. That was one heckuva workout. 2 warmup laps and 4 all out.
Tonight I went to Waverly to get one last ride in. I thought I was lost and circling the same trail at one point. But it was fun. It is flowy and about the time you think the climb will never end you get the reward with some nice downhill and good flow and movement. I want to get back out there SOON.
Leave for Poland tomorrow. Waiting for laundry. Still need to pack. Volunteering at Make a Wish walk tomorrow morning. I get back next weekend just in time for celebrating.
You guys have a great week ahead!
